Never a Dull Moment

We truly never have a dull moment around here-this morning we found a wonderfully friendly black and white cocker spaniel taking up residence on our porch. He was very frightened but happy to see people. Dazzle and Daphne were quite the welcoming committee. No name tag but a dead battery in an invisible fence collar. Ben and Zach welcomed him much more than the girls. Zach got some "cookies" and made a friend very quickly. We made up some signs after taking some pics of "Freddy", we have Daphne so Freddy seemed appropriate. The Hamburg Town Dog Warden wasn't in yet. So, we made Freddy comfortable with a blanket and the extra crate that we have for when Benji comes to visit while we looked for his owners. In the meantime, we had promised to take the boys to the Penn Dixie Site and go fossil digging. It really was alot of fun-the boys found some really cool things, were able to dig, get dirty and mom and dad were able to get out some aggrivation on some rocks also. After getting home I called the Dog Warden again. Guess what-somebody was looking for "Freddy"-his owner was here in minutes to claim him-and it was a wonderful reunion. She scoulded him for crossing Amsdell Road, and I told her atleast he knew where to come and be safe, but now he needs a name collar. He really is a beautiful dog and we already miss him-even Jerry said we would never send him to the pound-he would have a home here if we did not find his owner. Oh, yeah his real name is "Colby" and he is welcome here anytime.
